Academics

MSDE Approved Curriculum for Grades 1-5

Each student receives grade and age-appropriate education based on the parameters set by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and his or her Individual Education Plan (IEP). The curriculum is modified to fit the academic strength level of each student. As with most public schools, the education is focused on the core subjects of math, English, science and social studies.

Music

Kamran School uses music classes and music therapy to educate and enrich the lives of our students. These lessons take place once or twice during the week and are scheduled on a rotational basis with Art and PE.

Art Education

At Kamran School, Art is integrated into homeroom class activities, as well as periodic lessons on a specific type of art. Art classes are offered in rotation with Music and PE and are scheduled either once or twice a week.

Kamran School students learn how to be an active member of their community. They experience everyday tasks such as shopping, eating out, going to the local library, going to the parks, etc. Based on their grade levels, the Kiwi learn the basics of these activities in class/school and then apply their knowledge out in the community via fieldtrips.

Physical Education (PE)

Physical Education is a rotational part of every student’s weekly schedule. Each Student learns about and plays various sports. They also learn the importance of exercise through lessons. The level of each student’s participation is based on their physical ability and IEP goals.
